Food
I guess by now you must realize just how important this is to Perla and myself. Ever heard of B.A.R.F. ? No not “hurled matter”! Bones and Raw Food.
This is a very healthy diet for Dogs and even (yes- it hurts me to say it) Cats. It takes us back to our nature food that we ate in the wild, which is basically bones and raw food. This is becoming more well know since Dr. Billinghurst wrote his first book “Give your dog a Bone” and then later his next book “Grow your Pups with Bones”.
Keep in mind that these bones must be RAW as cooked bones splinter and cause possible injury. Raw bones are soft and more pliable. They provide calcium and lots of vitamins and minerals. The raw food provides enzymes that are essential to proper digestion.
Speaking of digestion, I had a lot of problems here until Kym switched me over to BARF. Not only digestion problems, but also skin problems. Us Dogos are very fair skinned and require a little extra care here. Once I started BARF, I stopped having all those rashes and of course I poop a whole lot less. Oops - can I say that?
Well, by the time Perla came along, I pretty much had the humans trained, so it made her life a whole lot easier. Ok, so maybe they did try to feed her “dog food” at first, but we convinced them that puppies need BARF too. And because she started this at 7 weeks, she is stronger and smarter than I was at her age (did I really say that?).
For your convenience, I have a couple of recipes for you. Just click on the receipe desired using the navigation links on the far left.
